Home.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday I went home and shot three of the many homes I've lived in throughout my life. Followed are staged images of objects that are meant to represent a memory. This series is apart of my ongoing, 'Home' series.

When I was a child my father was an angry alcoholic. One night I was refusing to go to bed, I was 7 years old. He threw a remote at me, which hit me directly in the nose, that as a result led to a big nosebleed.

The video game, Sims, has played a big part in my childhood with my siblings. Growing up we had played a lot of sims 2 and I appreciate those days now because in those moments we were bonding.

When my sister was in 10th grade she as diagnosed with depression. She dropped out and stayed in her basement bedroom everyday, all day. I would spend most of my days down there too. I knew something was wrong with her, but being a kid I didn't fully understand depression. However, I slept on the floor next to her bed everynight. I skipped school for most of that year to stay down there with her.

I was in High School when I had gotten the news that my father had been snorting heroin for over a year. Things started to make more sense after knowing, and my sister and I started to notice things more. He would snort it in the bathroom on the sink counter. We would see heroin residue sometimes.

After my brother had left for rehab, my sister and I cleaned out his room. We found many of his stashes, this is one of them.
